Congratulations to Schenita Randolph and the entire research team for the AWARD of their proposal to Gilead Sciences, Inc. entitled “A Salon-Based, Multi-level Intervention to Improve PrEP Uptake among Black Women living in the United States South”.  The award is for a 3 year period with a start date of August 1, 2020.

From the beginning of her career, Dr. Lauren Pacek has been interested in conducting research with vulnerable populations. During her undergraduate program, she volunteered in a professor’s lab where the focus was on smoking cessation. Then, in graduate school, she began working with populations living with HIV. Today, Dr. Pacek is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in Duke’s School of Medicine.

DURHAM, N.C. – Researchers have cleared a major obstacle in the development of an HIV vaccine, proving in animal models that effective, yet short-lasting antibodies can be coaxed into multiplying as a fighting force against the virus.

The finding, led by a team of researchers at the Duke Human Vaccine Institute (DHVI) and Boston Children’s Hospital, publishes online Dec. 5.
