About the lecture
Professors Bui and Hoang will discuss the history of healthcare reform in Vietnam and highlight the many changes that have occurred over the past 25 years. The developments in socio-economic status of the country, health status and health system indicators in Vietnam have been significantly improved since 1989. Positive outcomes have resulted from a widespread health care delivery network, an increasing number of qualified health workers, and expanding national public health programs. However, there are still a number of challenging areas in Vietnam, particularly related to NCDs and their risk factors; aging; infectious diseases; and climate change related health problems. Professors Bui and Hoang will address these challenges, in addition to how healthcare providers and policy makers are responding to a shortage of health human resources in disadvantaged areas and inequities in health care.

Lunch will be served at 12:00pm. The lecture will begin at 12:15pm.
