Global Value Chain Analysis and Global Health

Please join us for a brown bag lunch. Successful health interventions and programs often depend on a clear understanding of the social, economic and political factors at the local and global level. It is also important that researchers correctly identify relevant stakeholders. This talk introduces the Duke Center on Globalization, Governance & Competitiveness (Duke CGGC) and the methodology it uses to address development questions: global value chain (GVC) analysis. The GVC framework is an innovative social science methodology designed at Duke that has many possible applications in Global Health. We also provide a brief overview of previous applications to global health and the value added of incorporating innovative social science tools into global health projects.
